Here are honest answers to questions people often ask. Reiki.cn is a community, not a health service, and nothing here is medical advice.
Is Reiki a replacement for medical care?
No. Reiki should never replace care from a doctor or other qualified health professional. Don’t stop or change any treatment or medication because of Reiki. If you have a health concern, see a health professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
What does a session involve?
You stay fully clothed and usually sit or lie down. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above you. You can ask for hands-off practice at any time, and you can stop the session whenever you like.
Can I tell the practitioner what I’m comfortable with?
Yes. A good practitioner will explain what they’ll do, ask for your consent before touching, and respect your wishes.
What about children?
A parent or guardian should always be present and give consent, and any health concerns should be discussed with the child’s doctor.
How do I spot a practitioner to avoid?
Be cautious of anyone who promises a cure, tells you to stop medical treatment, pressures you to buy more sessions, or makes you feel uncomfortable.
